Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.

Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Author Guidelines
Acta Pulmonologica invites authors to submit manuscripts that contribute to the field of pulmonology and respiratory medicine. We accept the following types of submissions:
- Original Articles: Including basic medical research, clinical research, or community-based research.
- Case Reports: Unique or rare clinical cases that provide significant learning points.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive updates on specific topics in respiratory medicine.
- General Requirements
- Originality: Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and are not currently under consideration by another journal. A similarity check (e.g., Turnitin) will be performed upon submission.
- Language: All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts proofread by a professional editor.
- Formatting: * File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
- Font: Times New Roman, 12pt.
- Spacing: Double-spaced throughout.
- Margins: 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides.
- Page numbers: Placed at the bottom right of each page.
- Manuscript Structure
- Title Page: Includes the full title, author names, affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email and phone number.
- Abstract:
- Original Articles: Structured (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion), maximum 250 words.
- Case Reports/Reviews: Unstructured, maximum 200 words.
- Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords, preferably using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms.
- Main Body:
- Original Research: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
- Case Report: Introduction, Case Description, Discussion, and Conclusion.
- Review Article: Introduction, Subheadings (as appropriate), and Conclusion.
- Ethical and Disclosure Policies
- Ethical Approval: Research involving human subjects or animals must include a statement mentioning the Ethical Committee Approval and evidence of Informed Consent.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must declare any financial or personal relationships that could inappropriately influence their work. If none exist, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
- Funding: Specify any sources of financial support for the research.
- Acknowledgement: Recognize individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
- Abbreviations: Define abbreviations at their first mention in the text. Avoid using abbreviations in the title.
- Visuals and Data
- Tables and Figures: * Must be numbered consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) and cited in the text.
- Tables should be editable (not images) with a descriptive title above.
- Figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) with captions below.
- Supplementary Files: Large datasets, videos, or extensive appendices may be submitted as supplementary materials.
- References
Acta Pulmonologica follows the Vancouver Style (numbered).
- References should be numbered in the order they appear in the text using superscript numbers.
- Provide the DOI for all references where available.
- Example: 1. Doe J, Smith A. Lung functions in urban areas. Acta Pulmonol. 2024;10(2):45-50. https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxxx
- Article Processing Charge (APC)
- Acta Pulmonologica does not charge any submission, processing, or publication fees (APCs). All accepted articles are published free of charge.
- Copyright
- Authors retain copyright but grant Acta Pulmonologica the right of first publication under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).
- Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a 'Copyright Transfer Agreement'. Acceptance of the agreement will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. This transfer covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article, including reprints, photographic reproductions, microform, or any other reproductions of similar nature and translations.
- Privacy Notice
- The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
- Regarding patient privacy, this journal adheres to the highest ethical standards. For all research involving human subjects, authors must ensure that any personal identifiers (names, dates of birth, or medical record numbers) are removed or anonymized. Authors are responsible for obtaining written informed consent from patients for the publication of clinical details and images. Evidence of such consent must be made available to the editors upon request.
